PHARMACY PROJECT

More than 10% of children in Sudan have been diagnosed with cancer, which is more than double the world average. The sad part is that this figure is likely to be much higher.
COS volunteers visited the Radiation and Isotope Centre in Khartoum (where most of Sudan's cancer cases are seen and treated), to understand more on this issue and find out how we can help. After consulting with Doctors and patients, we were able to identify several inexpensive and effective medications that are in high demand but are no longer affordable due to the increase in price and relatively low-income rates.

COS have formed an agreement with Al Shahida Dr. Selma pharmacy in Khartoum to provide free cancer medication for families that are facing financial hardships, to enable their children to have uninterrupted treatment that is necessary for the effective cure of cancer.

This is an on going project in which we initially aimed to send monthly donations to support those families in need. However, due to the recent instability in the Sudanese currency that has led to high inflation rates, we have decided to provide a single annual payment to cover the cost of medications.

So far, we have successfully transferred 42 monthly payments alongside various lump sums to facilitate this initiative. Moving forward, we hope to continue to support this cause with our new payment scheme.

It is truly heart breaking to see how many families are unable to afford treatment, which is why we have pledged to pursue this as an on going project to support them in any way that we can.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has donated to this cause. To keep this project alive, we need your support.
